About the Artist
Full speed ahead
better late than never
Cindy Testerink is a realist oil painter based in South Pittsburg, Tennessee, specializing in portraiture, figurative work, and landscapes centered on country life. Her early talent was recognized with an honorable mention for a country barn landscape in 1984 and a first-place win in the Faces of North Carolina Portrait competition at the 2009 North Carolina State Fair.
For much of her adult life, painting took a back seat to the demands of raising a family and earning a living — first as a single mother, and later through the years happily married, but following the 2008 financial crash, and loss of her decorative arts business, she once again returned to the work force to help make ends meet. Now in her sixties, with more time to devote to her craft, Testerink has returned to the studio in earnest, pursuing painting as the career she always envisioned. Her realist style reflects a lifetime of desire to share her art, bringing warmth, honesty, and quiet dignity to her portraits and portrayals of rural Southern life.
